Sandwiched between a monster (42 minutes) Dark Star, and a serene Stella Blue - one of my favourite Eyes http://www.archive.org/details/gd73-12-06.sbd.kaplan-fink-hamilton.4452.sbeok.shnf

Plenty of wonderful versions in '73/'74 as others have mentioned, but when I want it a little more lively I go to 29/10/77.

While Colgate is a steamroller of an Eyes, I prefer the other's slower, less frenetic pace.

Interesting, only one other person can come up with performances from more than one year...

I really love your choice of 6/20/74, Cliff. The first few seconds of that one always send chills down my spine (especially if I heard the transition from Truckin').

Good point, though I selected that one for the Slipknot! jam segue into China Doll. Thanks for selecting performances from mutiple years.

75/08/13
76/07/17
77/09/03 (or 2/26)
The amount that I like Eyes falls off dramatically at this point...but:
81/08/12 (Cliff nails it!)
82/03/13
90/06/23 (With a nod to Branford's lovely contributions on 3/29)

I can not name my favorite "Eyes" by year, but I appreciate you naming the 6/20/74 "Eyes". It was a show I attended. It was a relatively short show opened by Maria Muldaur. "Truckin'" and "Eyes" were amazing! The "Ship Of Fools" was not filler either at this show with Nixon under fire. Politics were closely related to song material during these days, let me tell ya'!

My fav Eyes of The World was performed on June 9, 1973. It was the 1st time I heard it played. This version is shorter, at 11:43, but the tempo is fast. It goes into China Doll. Nice contrast. Amazing dynamic range and AUD.fob sound fidelity is captured on Tape.

Craven - I decided to check this for a minute or so to see if it was worth coming back to, and I simply abandoned all plans and was stuck to the video for 15 mins. That was amazing. Thanks for a great recommendation!!
(All I could suggest is 10-25-1985 at the Sportatorium, simply because it was the first time -out of 2- I saw the Grateful Dead.)

Great choice for '78 Larry. I doesnt hurt that the sound quality of that Betty Board is superior to quite a few commercial releases!

6/18/74 is the standard bearer, imho...perfectly executed on the difficult, jazzy timing of that period's outro jam...i've yet to hear another that nails it quite so well

other favorites
12/6/73
9/3/77
6/9/76

for me it goes downhill after 1977 until a massively beautiful resurrection on 3/29/90
